Poem: Whose God Is It Anyway

Its yours if you want it

I don't worship God, or say any prayers
I don't apologise, or use graces and airs
I don't have to explain how I perceive God
But i'm happy to tell you, if you give me the nod

The Bible is an allegory, just telling the same stories
Of ancient times and their trials and glories
An analogy of cataclysmic floods
Of asteroid impacts and Atlantis spilt bloods
Lessons and legends passed on by the sages
Of a judgemental power that ruled through the ages
Jesus was wise, preaching anarchy and peace
Which was probably why they saw him deceased 
Then Constantine, demanding control
Had a word with the church and got God on the payroll.

There'll be no second coming after 2000 years
But something was seen by the most ancient of seers
That points to our time in the dawn of Aquarius 
That was interpreted as Jesus coming back to save us
But the message was carved 10000 years before
Jesus was born, in the times of yore
Exactly what Göbekli tells us, I am no sleuth
But by 2040 we should know the truth.


I don't actually know what God really is
Or the pronoun to describe it, whether hers or his
An omniscient arbiter to restore the order
When it seems the world has reached Mordor's border
I don't think God disrupts evil plans
Or lets us in to heaven when we kick our mortal cans
Saving your life is never the goal
The only motive is to save your soul

Providing guidance no longer valued as dear
That steers us towards love and away from fear
Helping to make you the best version of yourself
To spread compassion and natural good health

A set of rules to create heaven on earth
That if carefully followed will spare you the dirth
Of a life lived in the mind where the ego plays
That will see you in hell to the end of your days

These evil guys and gals, the psychos and sneers
Spend their existence in hell in their living years
There's no underworld for them when they die
Just a lifetime without love as life passes them by

It might be nice to think of them in eternal damnation
They are already there, but hold the jubilation
Revenge and hate exist in the mind
So get back in the soul, and leave all that behind.

The Gods of the Ancients, the Jews, or the Greeks
Of the Aztecs, Romans, or Jonestown freaks
The Mayans, the Christians, the Muslims too
There's so many to choose from. I don't know what to do
So I'll trust in the one that resides within me
And live in peace, love and liberty.
